If you’ve been involved in a drunk driving/DUI accident you need to be aware of your legal rights. Whether it’s your first, second or third offense, you should know that if it happens in San Diego, you will be facing an uphill battle. Like other cities in the state of California, the laws are tough. And no one is immune to legal repercussions. Consider the Lindsay Lohan case.
Recently, her arrest warrant was dismissed by a California judge after she was determined to be in full compliance with the terms of her probation for driving under the influence. But its been an up and down battle for her and her attorneys.
Before the judge made the determination, the LAPD issued a $50,000 warrant for the star's arrest in relation to her 2007 DUI conviction, which saw her sentenced to 24 hours in jail. Lohan was also ordered to perform 10 days of community service and enter an 18-month alcohol education program.
What prompted the warrant? The director of her alcohol education class told the court the actress had missed three sessions in a 21-day period, violating the terms of her three-year probation. Lohans attorney, Shawn Chapman, blamed the warrant on a "miscommunication and had been in one program but left that program" for another due to a "personality conflict."
Be aware that this same situation could happen to you if you have been charged with a DUI. However, with aggressive representation, you can avoid conflicts like the one Lohan is dealing with.
