how long is a filled prescription for pain meds valid in regards to drug testing for probation

More details to this question:
If I have a valid rx for a narcotic pain med that was filled 3 months ago, is it legal for me to use it? My question essentially is does it expire once it's been filled if it's within a reasonable amount of time ?

If you are taking pain medication, then you need to advise your PO of what you are taking and hope that if you are required to take a urine or blood test that what shows up is the same as what you are taking.
